Director of Supply Chain Management

Industry: U.S. Global Aerospace & Defense Systems Manufacturing Platform
Enterprise Executive Leadership | Reports to: Chief Operations Officer
Location: Remote – United States (with domestic and international site travel)

About the Organization

We are a U.S.-headquartered global aerospace and defense systems manufacturer delivering advanced avionics, propulsion components, satellite subsystems, secure communications hardware, and precision-engineered assemblies supporting commercial aviation, national security programs, and next-generation space initiatives.

Our supply chain ecosystem spans domestic precision machining facilities, international electronics manufacturers, specialty materials suppliers, composite fabrication partners, and regulated Tier 1/2 aerospace vendors. Operating within ITAR, FAR/DFARS, AS9100, and multi-government compliance frameworks, our supply continuity, supplier governance, cost discipline, and geopolitical risk mitigation directly influence program delivery and contractual performance.

With expanding multi-year defense contracts, space platform production scaling, and high-mix low-volume manufacturing complexity, enterprise-level supply chain leadership is central to operational resilience, margin protection, and on-time delivery performance.

We are seeking a strategic and execution-focused Director of Supply Chain Management to architect global supply chain strategy, procurement governance, supplier performance management, risk mitigation frameworks, and digital supply network modernization, fully remote within the United States.

This is not a transactional procurement role. This is an enterprise-wide supply chain transformation mandate.

Job Function

The Director of Supply Chain Management will oversee enterprise sourcing strategy, supplier network optimization, demand planning integration, inventory governance, logistics oversight, compliance adherence, and multi-site supply continuity across regulated aerospace manufacturing operations.

This executive ensures cost efficiency, supply reliability, contract compliance, and scalable supplier ecosystems aligned with long-term production objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Define and execute a multi-year global supply chain strategy aligned with aerospace program growth and contract performance requirements.
  • Lead enterprise strategic sourcing initiatives across critical materials, electronic components, composite structures, and precision-engineered assemblies.
  • Strengthen supplier qualification, audit, and performance management frameworks within AS9100 and ITAR compliance standards.
  • Implement supplier risk mitigation strategies addressing geopolitical exposure, single-source dependencies, and material shortages.
  • Oversee integrated demand planning and S&OP alignment, linking production schedules with supplier capacity.
  • Guide cost optimization initiatives, including should-cost modeling, long-term agreements (LTAs), and supplier consolidation strategies.
  • Manage inventory governance frameworks to balance working capital optimization with program readiness.
  • Implement KPI dashboards tracking supplier OTD (On-Time Delivery), quality defect rates, PPV, lead time variability, and risk exposure.
  • Strengthen digital supply chain modernization, including ERP optimization, predictive analytics, and supplier collaboration platforms.
  • Lead logistics oversight, including export compliance, freight optimization, and global transportation governance.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Program Management, Quality, and Finance to ensure supply alignment with contractual and regulatory obligations.
  • Present supply chain performance updates to executive leadership and Board-level operations committees.
  • Build and scale high-performance global procurement and supply chain teams.

Strategic Support

  • Advise COO and executive leadership on long-term capacity planning and dual-sourcing strategies.
  • Support M&A diligence related to supplier integration and supply chain harmonization.
  • Align supply chain strategy with ESG, sustainability, and domestic sourcing initiatives.
  • Strengthen supplier innovation partnerships supporting next-generation aerospace programs.
  • Guide enterprise risk mitigation frameworks across the defense and space sector volatility.
  • Contribute to margin protection strategies through disciplined cost governance and contract alignment.
