The Head of IT Operations will guide operational planning, oversee multiple technical teams, shape standards, and support initiatives that contribute to the stability and performance of the organisation’s technology landscape. This leadership role requires strong operational experience, sound decision-making, and the ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead daily IT operations across infrastructure, cloud services, networks, service management, and internal systems.
- Develop operational strategies that ensure reliability, scalability, and security across the IT environment.
- Oversee incident management processes, ensuring rapid resolution and clear communication.
- Support technology roadmaps in coordination with Engineering, Security, and Enterprise Architecture teams.
- Maintain KPIs, dashboards, and reporting structures to evaluate performance and service quality.
- Implement best practices in availability management, capacity planning, monitoring, and change management.
- Lead vendor partnerships related to infrastructure, hosting, and managed services.
- Coordinate cross-functional communication, ensuring alignment across technical and business teams.
- Support system upgrades, cloud migrations, and operational improvement initiatives.
- Mentor IT Operations teams and support capability-building within the department.
Job Qualifications and Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in IT Operations, Infrastructure Management, Cloud Services, or related areas.
- Experience leading operations in medium-to-large organisations with complex technology environments.
- Strong understanding of service management practices, incident frameworks, and operational governance.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, monitoring tools, automation practices, and infrastructure technologies.
- Proven ability to work effectively with technical teams, leadership, and business stakeholders.
- Ability to manage vendors, support contracts, and operational budgets.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced training or certifications (ITIL, cloud certifications) beneficial.
