Vice President of Learning and Development

About the Role

In a world where skills evolve faster than job titles, learning is the engine that drives growth, resilience, and innovation. We are seeking a transformative Vice President of Learning and Development (L&D) to architect a global learning ecosystem that empowers our people to thrive — today, tomorrow, and beyond.

This is a rare opportunity for a strategic and visionary leader to build a culture where continuous learning, leadership excellence, and capability development define how we grow our people and our business. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, this role will lead enterprise-wide learning initiatives that enhance workforce agility, strengthen leadership pipelines, and align with long-term organizational strategy.

You’ll oversee a talented global team responsible for leadership programs, technical upskilling, digital learning transformation, and cultural enablement initiatives. The VP will be the strategic bridge between people and performance, shaping the learning architecture that fuels innovation across every level of the enterprise.

The ideal candidate is equal parts strategist, storyteller, and change leader — someone who can blend technology, data, and human insight to design learning experiences that move both minds and markets.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and lead the enterprise learning and leadership development strategy aligned with business goals.
  • Build a global learning ecosystem that integrates digital learning platforms, leadership academies, and on-the-job capability programs.
  • Drive learning transformation and cultural adoption, embedding learning into the flow of work.
  • Oversee development of leadership, management, and functional learning frameworks for all levels of employees.
  • Leverage data analytics to measure ROI, skill progression, and workforce capability readiness.
  • Partner with senior executives to identify emerging talent needs and develop targeted learning interventions.
  • Cultivate a network of external learning providers, academic institutions, and innovation partners.
  • Ensure that learning strategies support diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) principles across regions.
  • Develop future-ready leaders through immersive and experiential learning pathways.

Qualifications: What We’re Looking For

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in learning and development, talent management, or organizational effectiveness, preferably in a large-scale or global enterprise.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Psychology, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven success designing enterprise learning architectures that scale across multiple business units.
  • Expertise in digital learning platforms (Degreed, Workday Learning, LinkedIn Learning, Coursera) and learning analytics tools.
  • Strong leadership experience managing cross-functional global teams and multimillion-dollar budgets.
  • Exceptional communication, influence, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strategic thinker with a deep passion for human potential, digital learning, and culture transformation.

Strategic Support

  • Partner closely with the Chief Executive Officer and Chief People Officer to align L&D initiatives with the company’s long-term strategy.
  • Support global transformation programs by driving reskilling, leadership development, and change management readiness.
  • Collaborate with Technology teams to accelerate the use of AI and predictive analytics in personalized learning.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to business unit leaders to identify and address workforce capability gaps.

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid or remote flexibility with travel to key offices, leadership summits, and learning centers as needed.
  • Collaborative, innovation-driven culture that prioritizes inclusion, creativity, and professional excellence.
  • Exposure to global leadership teams and access to enterprise decision-making forums.

Essential Job Function

The Vice President of Learning and Development serves as the architect of enterprise learning — transforming organizational knowledge into competitive advantage and ensuring that every employee has the skills, confidence, and mindset to shape the future.

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Certification in Executive Coaching, Organizational Development, or Learning Strategy (ATD, CIPD, SHRM-SCP).
  • Experience with AI-driven learning personalization and workforce intelligence platforms.
  • Background in management consulting, corporate transformation, or enterprise-scale culture change.
  • Recognized thought leadership in L&D strategy or published research on learning innovation.
